December 19, 2019 MERRY CHRISTMAS

December 19, 2018

Christmas….What does Christmas mean to you?
I am going to be honest with you, usually by mid-October, I am playing Christmas music.  Why?  I honestly don’t know.  There has always been something about Christmas that gets me up on the tire.  The gifts…maybe.  The family time…sure.  The smells of Christmas…yeah I like those to.  A nativity scene…yeah that is pretty special.  I can remember a time when I would spend Christmas at Grandmas house, the warmth of her home is something I can still feel to this day.  She would always sing the song “Emmanuel” growing up I never really understood the meaning of the word “Emmanuel” over the last few years I have began to really reflect on that word and what it means.

“The Lord your God will give you the sign.  Look!  The virgin will conceive a child!  She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (Which means ‘God with us’)” Isaiah 7:14 (NLT)

The center of the Christmas message is a God of love who desires to be with you.  It is humbling to think that I serve a God who desires to be with me.  Have I always desired to be with Him?  Honestly…no.  So, to think that He wants me, desires me, loves me, after all I have done….Humbling.  This Christmas season, consider your relationship with Him.  And as you consider it, sing these words….“Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel, shall come to thee oh Israel.”

So, have a very Merry CHRISTmas knowing that God loves you and wants to be with you. May you know the presence of your Heavenly Father in a special way during this blessed season.

CHRISTmas to me means….Relationship.

Joshua 3:5

And Joshua said, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Thought

This is how Joshua addressed the people as he was preparing them to cross the river into the promised land. Moses had died and passed over the leadership to Joshua. Joshua went to the Lord, received his marching order, and when he gathered the people together, this was his command to them: “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

God’s part is very clear, “Tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” We know for sure that it’s not we ourselves who do the amazing things, for only God can do supernatural things. Only God can change the hearts of men and women. He promises to do it, and He promises to do it among us.

As we are consecrated, as we are available for Him to use us, we will be able to watch Him do amazing things, but He will do them among us. So the question is, are you consecrated? Are you set apart for Him? Are you composing your heart and mind to hear what He says in His word, and then obey? If you are, get ready for some amazing things.

Dear God, thank you for the gift of salvation, for sending your Son Jesus to save a sinner like me.  God, I pray that I can listen for you, everyday I need you.  Today, I pray for direction, it seems that we get pulled in so many directions, so many opportunities provided through you, and yet I miss them.  So God, I am open to receive your clear path, let me not lose sight of the calling you have placed over me.  Thank you for your patience….In Jesus name….AMEN

I pray that as you begin this week, you can look at all the blessings that surround you, that you will acknowledge where those blessings came from, and that you will give glory and praise to our Lord and Savior.  My encouragement is that you strive to remain is a state of thankfulness in the days following, that you never lose sight of where God has brought you, and ready for where He is going to take you.

Friends, I am thankful for many reasons; for family, a home, a job, friendships, but most importantly I am Thankful for a Father in Heaven who walks with me, who protects me, who strengthens me, whose Word can clear all distractions that are going on, who never gives up on me, for His grace and mercy, for an unfailing love, I am thankful for the Cross.

Thank God each and everyday.

“At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.”  Ephesians 5:20

Matthew 6:9-13 - November 15, 2013

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For thine in the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen”

Reflection:

Friends, today, take the time to carefully consider each word in this beautiful passage.  When you weave the Lord’s Prayer into the fabric of your life, you’ll soon discover that God’s Word and God’s Son have the power to change everything, including you.

Heavenly Father thank you for this beautiful morning, God thank you for each and every blessing that you give.  Today, I pray for the struggle to become victorious, for the broken hearted to be mended, for the hurting to be comforted, and for the sick to be healed.  God, may today be about you and your will for our lives, may we put aside the pride, and humble ourselves before your Lord.  May your light shine before us, and be the lamp to our feet….In Jesus Name AMEN
